abstract = {{The High Intensity Proton Accelerator facility (HIPA) at the Paul Scherrer Institute, Villigen, Switzerland will celebrate its 50th year of operation in 2024. This contribution provides insights into the facility’s operational history, current status, and forthcoming upgrade strategies. At present, the focal point rests on the RF-upgrade program of the Injector 2 cyclotron. This initiative is one of the main pre-requisites for reaching a beam current of 3 mA. First results about the operation with one new 50 MHz resonator in Injector 2 will be presented.}},
